Restaurant Eve is a charming little place in Old Town Alexandria. It’s been recognized by Food and Wine Magazine, and has a lovely little friend, Eamonn’s, which I reviewed here
Eve is usually a little on the pricier end. But during the week, you can choose any two items from their lickety split menu for $13.50. For the amount of money I spent on some excellent food, it makes me reconsider the amount of money I spend on rather craptacular food. It makes me sad. (more…)

I’m a Baltimoron at heart. I loved the Senator Theatre growing up. An enormous old-timey theater with real buttered popcorn and lovely premiers. Regardless of how much I wish Ed Norton (he’s so dreamy) would step in and donate some money to save this theater. I’m sure some jerk developers would turn this place into condos or some other retarded gentrified crap.
As of right now they still need to raised $50,000. Go to http://www.senator.com to help out.

I realized I haven’t posted in a rather long time. Things have been busy. So I will do the quick roundup comments.
Restaurant Kolumbia – the Petite Club. Oh yes. Smoked salmon, bluefish salad, sturgeon gravlax with capers, pickled onions and cucumber on pumpernickel. It was like some magical tea sandwich on steroids. If I could have this at tea time every day, I would be so much happier in the afternoon. Chicken liver butter parfait had a nice touch of Grand Marnier for a slight orangey flavor. It was a lovely touch.
Kotobuki – Flounder sashimi is a great choice. Scallop sushi is not as good as I’ve had it, but this changes so frequently. Yellowtail is excellent as always. I’ve grown tired of the excessive scallions in the spicy salmon roll though.
Bertucci’s – Just because it happened. Shrimp pizza wasn’t bad. Other pizzas not so good. I like their cream-based pizzas. The chicken and broccoli one is pretty good as long as they ensure to cook off enough of the wine flavor in the sauce. It just reminded me of a smoked salmon with cream sauce pizza I had in Nice. Yum. And gelato.

Even ice cream in France is more whimsical!
