Another reason my boss RAWKS

Me: So how was the Nationals game?
Boss: We left early and watched the end of the soccer game [World Cup Final].
Me: So you saw the head butt [Because if somehow you've been living in a hole, or living in a house in Utah with no TV, one of the greatest soccer players ever, in the last ten minutes of overtime - Zinedine Zidane - headbutted someone on the Italian team and most likely was the main reason the French team lost.]
Boss: Yes. That guy must have said something bad about his momma. [Haha... my boss knows about yo momma jokes]

Review: Huong Viet and Mark’s Duck House

Both meals were good and pretty inexpensive. More after the jump… Continue reading

Review: Corduroy Restaurant

Went to Corduroy today for lunch. Since it was for work, I didn’t think it would be wise to whip out the camera and start taking shots. Not that I feel comfortable doing that normally.

We had the Filipino-style spring rolls a.k.a. lumpia. Not bad. But my mom’s are the best. I don’t really have much to say about the spring rolls because they were pretty unextraordinary.

I ordered the crispy soft-shell crab with verjus that was oft-written of on Don Rockwell. Compared to the usual Phillips soft shell crab sandwich or fried soft shell that comes in spider rolls, this was spectacular. Verjus is a sauce made from dried unripe fruit, in this case, grapes. It was the best soft-shell crab I’ve ever had. The breading was very delicate compared to fried chicken-style breading so common to many establishments. The inner meat managed to stay juicy and sweet. It came topped with some kind of fried thin noodle and wilted greens with what I am guessing is the verjus. It all came together very nicely. Yummy, yummy.
