Review: Rockland’s BBQ

The sister, bro-in-law and monkeykins came down to visit after furniture shopping. We were going to head to 2 Amy's, but after my confusion with getting lost, we ended up in Glover Park. So I suggested Rockland's because I'd never been, and the smoky scent of BBQ was just too tempting.

So we head in and bump into an associate of the bro-in-law and he says he knews BBQ growing up in TX and Rockland's is good. We ordered a rack of ribs with sides of corn pudding, collard greens and slaw. Overall it was a disappointment. The ribs were dry, but they didn't really have any kind of nice flavorful dry rub on them. The meat had been smoked for a while, but the ends were a bit burned. I think I really prefer moister, wet ribs. The slaw was crunchy, but the flavor wasn't really infused into the veggies. I think perhaps they would have done well with a less coarse chop. The corn pudding should been a little bit sweeter and the collard greens should have tasted a little meatier. I really prefer Urban BBQ in Rockville.

  1. Too bad. Nothing like a good BBQ.
