Review: Mehak, Cezanne and Max’s Ice Cream

I had an exciting Sunday filled with ice cream, fine art and Indian food. Moving to DC is starting to be a drain on the wallet =D. But at least it's a good one. Continue reading

Review: Arctic Monkeys

Saw Arctic Monkeys at 930 Club. Apparently Lance Armstrong was there too. I love the 930 Club as a venue. It's a pretty intimate place and we got a pretty good view of the band. I think because they're sort of a grassroots type of band, they don't really know how to play to the crowd. They said maybe ten words to the audience the entire time. The music was great, though I think that they demonstrated their newness by playing their most popular song second in the set. Most bands would reserve such a song for near the end or an encore. You can hear the concert on NPR, http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5293452

One final comment… damn… white people really cannot dance.

Review: Dagoba Chai

Mmm… the Dagoba chai bar is awesome. It’s milk chocolate with crystalized ginger and spices. They actually use real spices: ginger, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, anise, nutmeg and black pepper. They also happen to list love in the ingredients. Bit too cutesy for my tastes.

The chocolate is nice and smooth. The crystalized ginger has a pleasant crackle when you bite and the spices are great. I love cardamom… especially on Breyers vanilla bean ice cream. Lovely.

Around the city, Review: Prince’s Cafe

Pretty white birches illumined – crackly paper pieces falling off – so that’s what they mean when they say her arms were white like a birch.

Random thoughts of the city-

on the Metro: If you “accidently” swipe your hand across my ass one more time, I will beat you to death with my umbrella.

on the house: Who is putting bags of dog poop on our lawn?

Dear Landlord, Your responses to my problems with your house are unhelpful. Er-durh. You are also weird.

Went to Prince’s Cafe on Prospect Ave. in Tenleytown last night. I love the one in CP, but this place is not as good. The lamb vindaloo wasn’t very tomato-ey and much more like very spicy, chewy beef stew. The naan was excellent, and there was some lovely fava bean dip. I am hoping that maybe the chicken masala will be good, since it’s so close to my house.

Jobbage and review: DC Coast

Second day of work. The first real one, since yesterday was the focus of much orienting and form filling. I’m mostly doing some research for ads and proofreading.

Anyway, they took me out to DC Coast for a two hour lunch. So maybe I should not complain. Continue reading
